Who is Steve Joyner…
Well, Steve's been coaching tennis and Mentoring for 35 years. Success has come in many forms…Teaching Business Elites such as Sunny Sassoon, Hank and Rick Caruso, and Anthony Pritzker. Hollywood Moguls, Joseph Drake, Doug Belgrad and Rick Hess. Athletes, Wilt Chamberlain, Guy Rodgers, Reggie Theus and Joe Namath.
A Finance Major in college (Long Beach State University), where he received a full tennis scholarship. He grew up playing tennis in South Central Los Angeles, where his dad volunteered as a tennis coach.
The most potent lesson Steve has learned is to be consistent and persistent. His best attributes, is being understanding and an amazing problem solver.
Lastly, what he's known for…is the ability to interact with children; many consider Steve as the “Child Whisperer.”
MY STORY
I started tennis at the age of 10. After graduating St Augustine High in San Diego I was able to receive a full tennis scholarship and attain a Degree in Finance.
I had the talent and Skill level to be successful on the tour, but to be honest; the desire wasn’t there. I played on the tennis tour 6 months and had great results...this experience was made possible with the help of Councilman Nate Holden Sr and Councilman Herb Wesson.
I’ve also been able give back to those who don’t have the resources. Beri Myers, daughter of my good friend; Al Myers, a single father that didn’t have the money for tennis lessons. I taught her tennis from 7-18 years old for free. She received full tennis scholarship to Hampton University, and graduated with honers.
